Pastoral Services Appeal 2011
At Baptism, we accepted the call to follow Jesus. Be with us as we
move along on our faith journey. Send us your Holy Spirit, that we
might have wisdom for the journey. Help us to develop and share our
gifts as good stewards, that we may use them in love and service in
your kingdom. We ask this through Christ, our Lord. Amen.

PSA QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
Q: How does a donor make a gift using a credit
card?
A: Mark the box on the pledge envelope for EFT or Credit Card, then fill
in the required information on the bottom half of the pledge envelope.
Be sure billing address and expiration date is included. They may also
make a credit card gift at the secure online giving page at www.rcbo.org
Q: How does a donor make a gift using
electronic funds transfer?
A: Mark the box on the pledge envelope for EFT or Credit Card, then fill
in the required information on the bottom half of the pledge envelope.
Be sure they include a voided check (not deposit slip). They may also
make an EFT gift at the secure online giving page at www.rcbo.org.
Q: Why should I make a contribution?
A: Supporting the mission of the Church is part of our responsibility as
baptized Catholics. God is generous to each of us in countless ways;
charitable giving is one way of showing gratitude.
Q: I support my parish, why should I also give to the
diocese?
A: While the majority of the good works of the Church occur in parishes,
there are many people with needs that would go unfulfilled without the
help of the “local Church”. For example, the diocese provides services
for college students, the incarcerated, the deaf and the poor throughout
Orange County — services beyond the scope of any one parish. All
parishes benefit from helping train and prepare Seminarians, Deacons and
other church ministers for service in all parishes.
Q: What benefits do we get in our parish?
A: A number of the pastoral services outlined in the PSA brochure assist
parish volunteers with their ministries. These include training for
Catechists, Evangelization programs, Youth Ministry and Catholic
schools, among others. Also, the parish receives all donations over the
amount of our parish’s fair share costs of diocesan pastoral services.
These rebates have been used for (describe) in our parish in the past
and this year will be used for (describe).
Q: I don’t want to give money to the diocese, but I want to
support our parish project.
A: PSA donations don’t go to the Bishop or stay at the “diocese”. These
donations are used to serve people through the various ministries for
the upcoming year. If you prefer to make your pledge after our parish
goal has been paid, then you can be assured that your entire gift will
be rebated to our parish.
Q: Times are hard - I don’t know if I can afford to give now.
A: No gift is too small; the important thing is to participate, to do
your part for the greater good of all in proportion to how God has
blessed you. By making even very small monthly payments over a period of
time, you total gift will touch many lives.
