Preparation for Confirmation is a two-year journey
Confirmation I (CI)
Confirmation II (CII)
beginning fall of the sophomore year,
with Confirmation celebrated in May of the Second Year.

Students must provide a Baptismal certificate at registration.
A month from the time of the First Session,
Candidate is to have a Sponsor
RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CANDIDATES

  • Attend Weekly Mass
  • Turn in each week: Mass Homily paragraph
  • Participate in related Liturgies: Student Commissioning;
                Advent & Lent: Parish Penance Service
  • CII Attend 'Rites' - Rite of Entrance & Rite of Acceptance
  • CI Attend 'Rites' - Rite of Commitment & Rite of Support
  • performing 20 hours (each year) of community service
  • attend scheduled sessions (3 unexcused absences allowed)
  • Be responsible for making up work missed due to absence
  • complete assigned homework or projects
  • Prayers (see Catholic Tradition booklet) know required prayers
  • turn in Sponsor Form
  • turn in Baptismal certificate
  • CI attend required 'away, overnight retreat'
  • CII attend required 'In House Retreats' (2)
  • Request to be confirmed by writing to the Bishop (CII only)
  • Bring required materials to class each week: Mass Homily paragraph, folders, pencils, book, paper, and homework; Participate in class discussion and or projects.
  • attend Confirmation practices (2) (CII only)
  • attend required interview (1) (CII only)
  • research their Confirmation name (usually their baptismal name) (CII ONLY)
    Not necessarily mandatory, however we do desire that you
    attend 7:30 p.m. Mass each Sunday with Confirmation class
    (this Mass has become our Youth Ministry Mass hosted by
    'Guilding Light' many Confirmation students are members)
  • THE PARENTS/GUARDIANS ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Confirmation Program process in not only the responsibility
of the Confirmation Program, you as parents and/or guardians,
you are the primary ?teacher? of faith and morals.
The parents'essential role is to encourage, support,
and affirm their teen?s involvement in the Confirmation process.

It is vitally important for you and your Confirmation student
to understand, receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation is not automatic,
in order for the Student to receive his/her Sacrament of Confirmation
at the end of the 2-year journey, the students and parents must
actively participate in the required duties.
  • Attend Weekly Mass
  • Your Confirmation Student attends Weekly Mass
  • Drop your child off on time
  • Pick up your child on time
  • Parents must attend Parent Meetings
  • Your Child completes all assigned homework
  • Sponsor forms & Baptism forms are turned in
  • Studnets wears the SRE t-shirt to Sessions
  • Your Confirmation Studnet attends all Sessions, Rites and Retreats

          Neighbor who is home bound
The dates, times, and locations of Confirmation retreats
are announced at First Parent Meeting
with a weekend retreat the first year (CI)
(2) Retreats for CII are always in the Hall:Second Year

The Sacrament of Confirmation empowers the candidates to serve and to witness for Jesus to the parish,
community, and world. The sacrament is celebrated with the faith community of the Church
by the Bishop of the Orange Diocese

DRESS CODE FOR CONFIRMATION MASS

The following Dress Code is MANDATORY for CII Students
This dress code is strictly enforced

NO FACIAL PIERCINGS, you may wear small earrings

MEN:
? Dark dress slacks with a Belt: ?NO JEANS?
? WHITE dress shirt [NO OTHER COLOR]
(Either long or short sleeves)
? White T-shirt (optional-NO OTHER COLOR)
? Dark tie [must wear a tie]
? Dress shoes (no tennis shoes)

LADIES:
? White dress, at least to the knee (may be floor length)
? White Dress shoes (NO tennis shoes)
? This is not a prom, a wedding or a quinceań„²”
? NO thin straps or off-the-shoulder styles;
  no bare shoulders: No exposed skin such as midriff,
  or low cut waist line NO ?cut out? style
? NO See-Through shawls (wrap around the shoulders)
? No low cut dresses, either in the front or the back
? No clinging or see-through fabrics
? NO SHORTS / NO PANTS / NO JEANS
? Must wear a slip
We ask that you remind your guests to also dress modestly,
as this is a solemn Mass with the Bishop

Students and/or Sponsors who come with inappropriate dress
will be sent home to attend the Confirmation Mass at the next Session

Pictures and videotaping will NOT be allowed during the Mass.
The Bishop is always generous with his time after the Mass
and will pose for pictures with everyone.

2007 Confirmation Students of the Year

Sessions meet for 1 & 1/2 hours
The first-year (CI) Session meets on Monday evenings: 7:30pm to 9:00pm
The second-year(CII) Session meet on Wednesday evenings: 7:30pm to 9:00pm
in the Classrooms of St. Polycarp School
