SAINT POLYCARP SCHOOL PHILOSOPHY
Recognizing Christ as the center of our lives, we, the community of Saint Polycarp School,
proclaim our commitment to share the Gospel message with all those we serve. As a
people of God, our mission is to nourish the continuing growth and development of the
individual's journey in faith and to cultivate in each a desire to be an instrument of
/Christ's peace and justice throughout the world. To accomplish this mission, our
community encourages each individual to become a more complete person through the
continuous development of his/her religious, psychological, social, academic, physical and
aesthetic talents.
We, as a community, believe that the family is the primary educator of its children.
Realizing the importance to adapt to a changing society and to prepare for the
future, we continue to assist and to support the family and its mission.

Every person, as a child of God, regardless of
race, condition, or age has equal dignity and an inalienable right to an
education, therefore, no qualified student will be denied admission to this school on
the basis of sex, race, color, or national origin. We accept students age five
through fourteen in grades K through eight. Aceptance is based on testing, interviews and
recommendations by the principal and teacher. Financial assistance is available upon
request to those who qualify.

Accelerated Reader is a reading improvement program
providing the teachers with computerized diagnostic assessments of students' reading. St.
Polycarp school began this computerized/reading program in September 2000. This
program is available to students in grades 1 through 8.
Grade 3 through 8 are required to check out accelerated reader books, read daily, and take
accelerated reader tests in the library. The students earn points every time they
pass a test. The teachers determine the required amount of reading and the reading
level expected within a class.
Grades 1 and 2 are invited to voluntarily participate and occasionally a kindergarten
student will be asked to join the program.
St. Polycarp strives to motivate students life-time learners by demonstrating a commitment
to reading. Parents should acknowledge their child's effort in a positive and
supportive way.
Saint Polycarp School is fully accredited by the
Western Catholic Education Association and by the Western Association of Schools and
Colleges.
