PASTOR CORNER:
To my brothers and sisters in Christ,
Throughout the last few weeks, we heard many parables which Jesus gave to us so that we might reflect on our own life: Where are we now? Where am I now? What kind of soil or ground do I have? Am I willing to sell whatever I have in order to buy an important treasure or finest pearl of God’s Word which He has buried in my life?
From the readings today, we hear the Word of God speak to us as God’s people. We hear the invitation sounded through the prophet Isaiah: “All you who are thirsty, come to the water!... Heed me, and you shall eat well… listen, that you may have life.” In the Gospel, the Lord Jesus fed five thousand men on that day, not counting women and children by thanking, blessing and breaking five breads and two fish.
From these passages, we know that Jesus is the one who nourishes us with what we need; specially, through the Eucharist or the Mass which we celebrate. During the Mass, the priest invokes the Holy Spirit to sanctify and transform the bread and wine to become the Body and Blood of Christ to nourish us. This is the faith that we carry on in our daily life. This faith carries us into the kingdom of God, a kingdom embodied in Jesus Christ, yesterday, today, and forever.
Let us open our minds to understand God’s Word. Let us open our ears to listen to God’s Word. Let us open our hearts to absorb God’s Word. Let us open our life to let God’s Word grow deeper in our good soil and bear the good fruits for God’s people. Let the Eucharist call us to make thanksgiving a way of living.
May God bless us all!
In Christ our Savior and Risen Lord,
